Before your session, I plan the colours, props, wraps, headbands, and tiny outfits that will best suit your baby. Whether you’ve requested soft neutrals, earthy tones, or something a little more colourful, I thoughtfully prepare each setup to create a beautiful, timeless gallery.

Safety Is Always My First Priority
Nothing is more important than your baby’s safety.
Before every session, I thoroughly inspect my props, posing aids, and equipment to ensure everything is clean, secure, and suitable for your little one. Every blanket, wrap, outfit, and fabric that comes into contact with your baby is freshly cleaned and prepared.
Years of experience photographing newborns have taught me that every baby is different. I always work at your baby’s pace and never force a pose if they are uncomfortable.
Creating the Perfect Environment
Newborn babies sleep best when they are warm, comfortable, and relaxed.
Before you arrive, I warm the studio to a comfortable temperature for your baby. While it may feel a little warm for adults, it helps keep your little one settled during those beautiful sleepy poses.
Soft white noise is also prepared to create a soothing environment that reminds babies of the sounds they heard in the womb.
These small details make a big difference in helping babies feel calm and secure.
Cleaning and Preparing the Studio
Creating a clean and welcoming space is something I take great pride in.
Before every family arrives, I:
- Sanitise the studio and frequently touched surfaces.
- Prepare fresh blankets and wraps.
- Arrange props and posing areas.
- Check my camera equipment and lighting.
- Ensure everything is ready so your session runs as smoothly as possible.
When you walk in, I want you to feel relaxed knowing everything has already been taken care of.
Planning Your Session
Every baby is unique, which means every session is unique too.
Before your appointment, I review any notes you’ve shared with me, including your preferred colours, family combinations, sibling photos, and any special requests.
Having a plan allows me to spend more time focusing on your family rather than deciding what to do next during the session.
Preparing for the Unexpected
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that babies have their own schedule!
That’s why I never rush a newborn session. I allow plenty of extra time for feeding, cuddles, nappy changes, and comforting your baby whenever they need it.
The session flows around your baby’s needs because happy, comfortable babies create the most beautiful memories.
