🕒 How Long Does the Session Take?
A typical newborn photography session takes between 2 to 4 hours. That might sound like a long time—but rest assured, we go at your baby’s pace. There’s plenty of time for feeding, cuddling, and soothing whenever needed. Babies are the boss during the session, and their comfort always comes first.
📅 When Should the Session Take Place?
The ideal time for newborn photos is when your baby is between 5 and 14 days old. This is when they are most sleepy and curled up, which allows us to gently pose them in those sweet, dreamy positions.
However, if your baby is already a few weeks old—don’t worry! We welcome babies up to 6 weeks old and adjust the session style to suit their age and alertness.
🧺 What Happens During the Session?
Here’s a step-by-step look at what your session will include:
1. Arrival and Settling In
When you arrive at my studio in Leichhardt, we’ll take a moment for you and baby to settle in. I’ll walk you through the session plan, show you the wraps, props, and colour options, and answer any questions you have.
2. Creative Styling and Wrapping
Your baby will be wrapped gently in soft, breathable fabrics. I use a variety of creative wrapping styles that are both beautiful and comfortable. From textured blankets to dainty headbands and tiny bonnets—every setup is carefully curated to match your preferences.
3. Posing and Photography
Once baby is settled and sleepy, we’ll begin posing. I specialise in posed newborn photography, using tiny beds, buckets, baskets, and soft props. All poses are done with safety in mind—your baby is always supported, warm, and cared for.
4. Family and Sibling Photos (Optional)
Many parents choose to be in the photos too—and I highly recommend it. These first family portraits are priceless. Siblings are welcome as well, and I allow time for sibling bonding shots and individual photos.
👶 What If Baby Is Fussy?
Babies cry, wiggle, and sometimes just want to feed—and that’s perfectly okay. We take breaks whenever needed for feeding or cuddles. The studio is kept warm and soothing to help baby stay relaxed throughout.
🧸 Do I Need to Bring Anything?
You don’t need to bring much—I provide all wraps, props, and accessories. Just pack the essentials for baby:

After your session, you’ll receive a private online gallery to view and select your favourite images. All sessions come with high-resolution downloadable files, and you can also choose from my beautiful handcrafted albums, framed wall art, and prints to preserve your memories for generations.
