One of the most common questions I receive from expecting parents is:
“When should we book our newborn photo session?”
The simple answer is — as soon as you decide you’d love me to photograph your baby. Booking early is the best way to ensure we can secure a spot for you around your due date.
Why Booking Early Is So Important
Newborn photography sessions are limited each month so I can provide a calm, unhurried experience for every family. Because of this, availability can fill up quickly — especially for popular months.
By booking during pregnancy, we can lock in your session in advance, giving you peace of mind knowing your baby’s first photos are taken care of before they even arrive.
How Due Date Bookings Work
When you book your newborn session, I reserve space in my calendar around your estimated due date, rather than booking a fixed date straight away. Babies arrive on their own schedule, and flexibility is key.
Once your baby is born, you simply let me know, and we’ll confirm your session date — ideally when your baby is between 1–4 weeks old, which is the perfect window for posed newborn photography.
The Ideal Time for Newborn Photos
Newborn sessions are best done in the first few weeks after birth because:

Posed images are easier and more comfortable

Sessions tend to run more smoothly and calmly
While beautiful images can still be captured with older babies, booking early gives us the best opportunity to create those classic, timeless newborn portraits.
What If My Baby Has Already Arrived?
If your baby is already here — don’t panic! You’re always welcome to reach out. I’ll do my very best to accommodate last-minute bookings when possible, depending on availability.
That said, early booking is always recommended to avoid disappointment.
