“It feels hot in here!”
And you’re absolutely right — what feels hot for adults is perfectly warm and comforting for newborn babies.
Newborns Love Warmth
Newborn babies have just come from a beautifully warm environment — the womb. In their first few weeks of life, they are still learning how to regulate their body temperature. Because of this, they feel safest and most comfortable in warm surroundings.
When the room is warm, babies can relax, settle more easily, and stay content throughout the session.
Comfort Leads to Beautiful Posing
My photography style is posed newborn photography, which means your baby is gently positioned into classic, timeless poses and often photographed without heavy clothing or inside soft wraps and props.
For this to be done safely and comfortably, your baby needs to feel warm.

When babies feel comfortable, they naturally allow me to gently pose them — creating those soft, peaceful images parents love.
Warm for Baby, Not Unsafe
While the studio is kept warm, your baby’s safety is always my top priority. I constantly monitor your baby’s comfort, skin colour, and body temperature, and I adjust wraps, poses, and room temperature as needed.
Parents are always welcome to take breaks, cuddle their baby, or let me know if they have any concerns at any time.
Why Clothing Is Kept Minimal
You may notice that babies are often photographed in light wraps or without clothing. This isn’t just for aesthetic reasons — it’s because less clothing allows babies to stay settled and comfortable when the room temperature is warm.
It also helps keep babies sleepy, which is ideal for posed newborn photography.
A Calm, Baby-Led Environment
Every newborn session is designed to be calm, slow, and baby-led. Warmth plays a huge role in creating that peaceful atmosphere. When babies feel safe and cosy, sessions flow smoothly, and we can focus on capturing beautiful, timeless portraits.
